Reconstructing manuscripts from Chartres.

The workshop team was composed of four postgraduate students led by Joanna Fronska (the grant applicant) and Claudia Rabel, with the assistance of Véronique Trémault (Institut de Recherche et d’Histoire des textes, CNRS) and Michèle Neveu (Médiathèque l’Apostophe de Chartres):

The aim of the workshop was to physically reconstruct a significant number of burned and fragmented manuscripts, destroyed in 1944. Fragments of 44 volumes were restored to their original order and several errors in the online reconstructions and digitization were spotted and corrected during the work.
