The classroom activities from May 16th 2025 were followed by a visit to the Washington National Cathedral, to connect their classroom learning with real-world examples of cathedral design. They were able to observe and explore the building first-hand. Outside, they observed key architectural elements, identified major architectural elements such as flying buttresses, spires and towers, and reflected on how these features contribute to the cathedral’s height and stability. Inside, they observed the stained glass, vaults and columns, reinforcing their understanding of structure, balance, and visual pattern. The trip was very enjoyable and contributed to understanding about how large buildings are constructed.
