New! Announcing the 2024 Donor’s Trip with American Friends of Chartres this September!

Join us for an unforgettable six-day journey to Chartres from September 17 to 22nd, 2024, where history and culture come alive! Our program will feature two guided tours of the magnificent Chartres Cathedral, including an exclusive session with esteemed guide Malcolm Miller. You will explore the transition from the Romanesque architecture of the 12th century crypt to the Gothic architecture of the 13th century and marvel at the newly reopened Saint Piat Chapel, which harbors the Treasury. For the fit and adventurous, explore the conservation works of the north transept, ascend the bell tower, and walk along the roof for a breathtaking view of the flying buttresses and of the city.

Delve into the artistry of renowned stained-glass workshops and navigate the mystical labyrinth with our expert guide. Beyond the cathedral, join us as we uncover the treasures of the town of Chartres, visit the médiathèque, which houses precious medieval and renaissance manuscripts, and explore other historic churches in the area. Our journey will then continue to Lèves, where we will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation and visit a nearby abbey. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich heritage and vibrant history of Chartres and its surroundings.

If interested, kindly fill the form below. The details of the program will be shared with those registered.
