Lycée Rochambeau presentation in Bethesda

On April 3rd and 9th, the 7th-grade students of Lycée Rochambeau in Bethesda were treated to an enriching presentation by Dominique Lallement and Claire-Noëlle Simon on Chartres Cathedral. The presentation focused on the medieval art of creating colored stained glass. In Chartres, the stained-glass windows illustrate, amongst many other themes, scenes of daily life, trades, and crafts, during the Middle Ages. The students engaged enthusiastically, skillfully decoding some stained-glass images and offering perceptive observations. AFC extends heartfelt thanks to the teachers Charlotte Delavaloire, Monia Hilal and Clémence Papin-Bourcier and their students for welcoming us into their classrooms and sharing their curiosity and interest in the historical and artistic significance of Chartres’ stained- glass. AFC is also grateful for the STAFE grant from the French Embassy to support this educational program.
