Take a Journey Through Time: the Gothic Middle-Ages Education Project

Young people will explore and connect with the gothic Middle-Ages. They will discover the art of stained glass from medieval times to the present day, as well as Gothic architecture, heritage conservation and related trades.

French-speaking schoolchildren in the Washington DC area will benefit from presentations and activities at four age levels: primary, junior high, high school, adult learners.

This program will:

  • Enrich school curricula around the theme of the Middle Ages, using Chartres Cathedral as an example in art, history, mathematics and literature.
  • Awaken young people’s interest in heritage conservation and related professions, including new technologies!
  • Get young people and learners involved in the arts of stained glass, sculpture and Gothic architecture.

AFC has been awarded a STAFE Grant from the French government to support this project.
