In the second lecture, Mike Klug examines the notion of time as it is represented throughout the cathedral. Visible in the sculptures representing the creation of night and day, Mike Klug goes on to read iconographic depictions of linear time in three stained glass windows and door panels. He then points out how cyclical time is represented through the zodiac signs and labors of the month in the Calendar Window, noting its source in the famous book of hours Les très Riches Heures. Finally, with Rick Legault, he discovers the wonder of the astrolabe, held by angels on the Center Doorway, its many uses including telling time at night and its connection with the story of Heloise and Abelard.
